tee Coming in to school early on a Monday morning is something schoolchildren never look forward to. As the students of the Army Public school in Peshawar would have sat down at their books yesterday, nothing would have seemed off.
At 10:30 a.m though, they were face to face with one of the most despicable terror attacks in recent history. As 132 of their classmates and nine staff members of the school met with untimely deaths, 121 survived with injuries.
An incident they will never forget, some of the survivors spoke about the harrowing Monday morning they thought they’d never see
“I folded my tie and pushed it into my mouth so that I wouldn't scream. The man with big boots kept on looking for students and pumping bullets into their bodies. I lay as still as I could and closed my eyes, waiting to get shot again. My body was shivering. I saw death so close and I will never forget the black boots approaching me. I felt as though it was death that was approaching me”
Shah Rukh Khan a 16-year-old told AFP.
“They killed most of my classmates and then I didn't know what happened as I was brought to the hospital”.
Khalid Khan, a 13-year-old told Reuters
“Our instructor asked us to duck and lay down and then I saw militants walking past rows of students shooting them in the head."
Zeeshan, a student who survived the attack, reported The New York Times.
“I was trying to snatch my cap from my friend Mustafa when I heard the sound of shots. Our class teacher, who was standing outside, entered the auditorium and shouted, 'lay down, lay down. Our screams and the firing began simultaneously as both gunmen showered students with bullets,"
Muddassir Shah told The Anadolu Agency
"I saw the dead body of our office assistant on fire. She was sitting on the chair with blood dripping from her body as she burned,"
Salman, a student.
“All my class fellows were either dead or badly wounded. Chairs, tables, bags, and books, everything was littered by blood."

"My son was in uniform in the morning. He is in a casket now. My son was my dream. My dream has been killed."
